In the healthcare field, competent and well-trained staff truly are a life and death issue. This project was conceptualized to provide an engaging method to test the abilities of new management staff of Children’s hospital. The goal was to provide an engrossing experience that delivered real-world challenges, while keeping with the jovial soft touch that the Children’s brand coveys.

Large colorful interactive elements that mimicked the familiar tactility of medical equipment were used with data sets to test a user’s aptitude when dealing with activities such as scheduling and budgeting. Simply “gamifying” the process was not to be enough, so I crafted subtle stories that a user could journey through. This gave real weight to the simulation and made it feel more personal when the user had to decide to let go of staff members or had to deal with the fallout of a subordinate’s HIPAA violation.
